The reasons we believe Ethereum is the best smart contracted enabled blockchain and funds to use for securely playing Texas Hold Em, and other casino games, are threefold.

  1. Largest User Base ~4M+

    • Out of the smart contract enabled cryptocurrencies, Ethereum with its over 4 million users most certainly has the largest user base of them all.

    • This means the most potential other poker players, and when you're playing a multiplayer game like Texas Hold Em you want the largest potential playing pool possible

  2. Most Decentralized ~2,500 nodes

    • Ethereum is run by thousands of nodes around the globe, making it the most decentralized out of all smart contract platforms

    • What's fantastic about this is the censorship resistant aspect, will basically be impossible to stop the Dapp we are creating once running on-chain in such a decentralized manner

  3. Most Secure

    • Out of all smart contract platforms Ethereum appears by all measures to be the most secure. This is critical in the context of a game where large funds can be wagered

For all of the above reasons, we believe Ethereum is the right choice for blockchain to build our decentralized application on top of. However, there is one main concern that, up until now, has held developers back from building a poker-playing technology on Ethereum - high gas fees.

Head to the next section in our documentation to learn how we plan on solving this issue...
